abr25 The Macau government would like to see a shift of emphasis on the concession-related non-gaming investment efforts of the city’s six casino operators, so the companies avoid “working on similar areas”. That is according to commentary from Wilfred Wong Ying Wai (pictured in a file photo), executive vice chairman of one of the operators, Sands China Ltd. He was speaking on Wednesday, on the call to discuss the  first-quarter earnings announcement  of the parent, Las Vegas Sands Corp. Mr Wong stated, referring to the current Macau government that took office in December : “I think the new administration now has had time to look at the overall picture of the non-gaming development.” He added, referring to the industry as a whole: ‘As long as we maintain our total commitment they are looking to us to specialise in areas where we each do best because… they feel that maybe it’s better that, rather than six of us or working on similar areas.” The city’s six casino operators init...

 may25 Sands China Ltd. and Guangdong-Macau Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park Development Co. Ltd. (GMTCM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Friday to promote the integration of the Big Health tourism industry between Macau and Hengqin. The agreement was formalised at the GMTCM Park in the Guangdong-Macau In-Depth Cooperation Zone, aiming to leverage Macau’s strengths as a world centre for tourism and leisure alongside Hengqin’s expanding health sector resources, Sands China stated in a press release. Both parties pledged to collaborate on joint initiatives in health and wellness tourism, including professional forums, industry exhibitions, and medical conferences, the gaming and integrated resort operator added. may25 The chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group has voiced his optimism for Macao’s future, but also expressed concerns about the evolving landscape.  Francis Lui  was speaking at the opening of Global Gaming Expo Asia (G2E) opening held at the Venetian yesterday morning.  In his keynote address entitled “Embracing New Horizons for Sustainable Growth in Macao,” Lui reflected on his G2E speech delivered in 2017, when he outlined six industry priorities, noting how they remain relevant today as they did when he first shared them eight years earlier.  In addition to collaborating with the central government, integrating more closely with the Greater Bay Area (GBA) market, and working with the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau to develop a more sustainable gaming industry, Lui stressed the importance of supporting non-gaming and MICE amenities throughout Macao, along with leveraging the city’s UNESCO and cultural heritage ties to uphold its economic diversificat...
